Category: Search & Find Complexity: Medium Time to value: About 20-30 seconds per chart, roughly a minute for a full combined dashboard. Overview: The Affinity MCP lets you turn an investor or opportunity list you already keep in Affinity into a paginated tear sheet report, in plain language. Instead of exporting to Excel or hand-building one-pagers, you describe the layout you want. Claude pulls the live data and builds it as an artifact (an HTML link you can share with end users). This guide walks through building a Tear Sheet with one page per opportunity, prev/next navigation, and a filter to jump to any Opportunity Name.
Note: The pipeline examples referenced throughout come from Affinity’s demo environment. Your own charts will reflect whatever fields and naming your team actually uses.

What you can do

  • View one clean, professional page per opportunity, with every key field in one place
  • Page through opportunities with prev/next buttons
  • Jump to any opportunity using an Opportunity Name filter
  • See on each page:
    • Opportunity Name
    • Commentary
    • Owners
    • Investor Type and Investor Potential
    • Current Status
    • Previous Funds Invested and Prospective Funds
    • AUM
    • Fund I / Fund II Commitment breakdown

Prerequisites

  • Affinity MCP connected in Claude (or another MCP client)
  • A maintained list in Affinity. Claude reads directly from it, so no new data entry is needed.
  • The fields you want on each page populated (Commentary, Owners, Investor Type, Investor Potential, Status, Previous Funds Invested, Prospective Funds, AUM, Fund I/II commitments). Empty fields will show as blank on the page.
  • A minute or two of patience, since Claude has to pull every entry and every field before laying out the pages.
One thing worth knowing upfront: the charts Claude builds are static. Each one is a snapshot of your pipeline at the moment you asked, not a live-updating dashboard. If a deal moves to a new stage tomorrow, the picture won’t update on its own, and the MCP can’t currently edit Affinity Analytics dashboards either. However, you are able to schedule a task within MCP that will update your data automatically based on the preferred frequency (shown at the very end).

Tear Sheet

When to use it: You want a pulse check before a pipeline meeting: are you top-heavy with new inbound, or mostly late-stage deals?

How to do it: Open Claude with the Affinity MCP connected and ask:

Tearsheet Prompt “Build a Tear Sheet dashboard from Affinity list [LIST_ID/URL] — a paginated report with one page per opportunity, navigable with prev/next and a filter to jump to any Opportunity Name. On each page, show: Opportunity Name, Commentary, Owners, Investor Type, Investor Potential, Current Status, Previous Funds Invested, Prospective Funds, AUM, and a Fund I/II Commitment breakdown. Make it clean, professional, and easy to navigate” Claude will call the Affinity MCP, pull every entry on the list, and read each field you named (Opportunity Name, Commentary, Owners, Investor Type, Investor Potential, Current Status, Previous Funds Invested, Prospective Funds, AUM, and the Fund I/II commitments). It then lays out one page per opportunity with prev/next navigation and an Opportunity Name filter. This typically takes 1-2 minutes; the more opportunities on the list, the longer the pull takes.
Note: The more specific you are, the better the result. Name the exact list, the exact fields, and the layout you want. A vague prompt like “show me my investors” won’t reliably produce the same tear sheet twice.

Schedule a task

Once you create your dashboard, it’s only a snapshot of your pipeline. To make sure your data is up to date, you need to schedule a task to refresh it.  Use the following steps to schedule your task:
  1. Navigate to “Scheduled”.
  2. Click on “New Task”
  3. Click on “Set up manually”
  4. In the pop up window, fill out relevant information. Refer to the example below:
    1. Name: Refresh Dealflow Dashboard.
    2. Instructions: Pull current data from [pipeline list name], then update the artifact at [artifact link] with the refreshed data.
    3. Frequency: Daily at 10:30AM.
    4. Permissions: Automatically approve.
  5. Save.
