Rapidly update multiple deals after partner meetings, investment committee sessions, or team syncs using keyboard-driven editing workflows. This approach minimizes time spent on data entry while ensuring your pipeline reflects the latest decisions and next steps. What you’ll accomplish: Update status, close dates, priorities, and next steps for multiple deals in minutes using efficient keyboard navigation and quick field editing. Who it’s for: Investment teams, deal owners, portfolio managers, and anyone responsible for maintaining pipeline accuracy post-meetings. When to use this: Immediately after partner meetings, weekly team syncs, investment committee decisions, or pipeline review sessions.Prerequisites
- Meeting notes with decisions for multiple deals
- Access to relevant deal list in New Lists
- Editor permissions
- Understanding of keyboard shortcuts for efficient navigation
Workflow Steps
Step 1: Filter to Deals Discussed in Meeting
If you have a prepared list:- Create or open a saved view with deals on today’s agenda
- Example filter: Status → is any of → “Active”, “Diligence”, “Partner Review” If searching ad-hoc:
- Use Find in View → Find Entries to search for each company by name
- Bookmark or note the deals needing updates
Step 2: Navigate to First Deal
- Locate the first deal requiring updates
- Click into the Status field or use arrow keys to navigate
- You’re now ready to begin rapid-fire updates
Step 3: Update Fields Using Keyboard Navigation
For each deal discussed: Update Status:- Click or press Enter on Status field
- Select new status from dropdown
- Example: “Meeting Scheduled” → “Proposal Sent”
- If Status Trigger fires, required field modal appears - fill immediately Update Close Date:
- Press Tab to move to Close Date field (or navigate with arrow keys)
- Press Enter to open date editor
- Type date using shortcuts:
- “Q1 2026” = defaults to first day of Q1
- “March 2026” = defaults to March 1, 2026
- “3/15/26” = March 15, 2026
- Press Tab to save and move to next field Update Priority/Next Steps:
- Continue using Tab to navigate right across editable fields
- Update Priority ranking if discussed
- Add Next Steps in text field:
- Type action items directly
- Press Tab to move on Move to Next Deal:
- Press Enter after last field to close editor and move down
- Use the arrow keys or Shift + Tab to move left
- Start typing to edit the Status field of next deal
Step 4: Batch Update Similar Decisions
For deals with same outcome (e.g., multiple “Pass” decisions):- Navigate to first deal
- Update Status to “Closed - Pass”
- Add brief note about reason (if required by trigger)
- Press Enter to move to next deal
- Repeat identical updates
Step 5: Add Context Notes (Optional but Recommended)
For significant decisions:- After updating key fields, click Note icon or open deal profile
- Add detailed meeting notes about:
- Partner feedback and concerns
- Action items with owners
- Timeline expectations
- Tag relevant team members with @mentions
Step 6: Verify Updates
- Scroll through updated deals to visually verify changes
- Check that Status Triggers were completed (if applicable)
- Confirm Close Dates align with partner guidance
- Save view if you want to review these specific deals later
Expected Outcome
- All deals discussed in the meeting have updated status, dates, and priorities
- Required fields populated per Status Trigger requirements
- Pipeline accurately reflects partnership decisions
- Team has visibility into updated deal stages and timelines
- You completed updates in 5-10 minutes vs. 30+ minutes of profile clicking
Tips & Best Practices
Keyboard Efficiency:- Master the Tab + Enter + Arrow keys for lightning-fast updates
- Start typing immediately when cell is focused (no click needed)
- Use ESC if you make a mistake (cancels edit before saving)
- Keep hands on keyboard to maintain flow state Meeting Note Organization:
- Take structured notes during meeting: Company Name | Status Decision | Close Date | Next Steps
- Have notes open side-by-side with Affinity for reference
- Process deals in same order as discussed in meeting Field Update Priorities:
- Status (triggers may require other fields)
- Close Date (critical for forecasting)
- Priority/Ranking (affects portfolio view)
- Next Steps (ensures follow-through)
- Owner (if reassignments made) Status Trigger Management:
- If triggers interrupt your flow, update Status last
- Or configure triggers to require only critical fields Quality Checks:
- Verify Close Date makes sense for new Status
- Ensure Next Steps are clear and actionable
- Double-check Pass/On Hold decisions before saving (can’t undo) Team Coordination:
- Assign an action owner to do post-meeting updates
- Or divide by owner - each person updates their deals
- Share updated view with team for transparency

- Navigates to first deal: “Acme Corp”
- Updates Status from “Active” to “Proposal Sent”
- Tabs to Next Steps → types “Draft term sheet by 11/15”
- Presses Enter to move to next deal
- Repeats for next 2 approved deals using same keyboard rhythm
- Updates 2 “On Hold” deals:
- Changes Status, updates Next Steps with info needed
- Adjusts Close Date out by 90 days
- Updates 5 staying “Active” - just adjusts Close Dates based on partner feedback
- Batch updates 2 “Pass” decisions:
- Status to “Closed - Pass”
- Brief note: “Not aligned with thesis per partners”
- Quick visual verification scroll
- Adds detailed Notes to the 3 priority deals for context Time taken: 8 minutes
