Ascend agents work in the background and surface things for you to review. If something isn’t appearing, it’s almost always one of a few things. Start here.

Where to look first

  • Ascend → Activity History — what the agents have already done (a run that found nothing is still logged here).
  • Ascend → Agent Activity — what’s pending your review.
  • Ascend → Agents — is Monitoring on for the agent (Meeting Prep, Data Update)? Monitoring governs each agent’s automatic run; you can still generate a meeting brief on demand with it off.
  • Is Ascend enabled for your org? Ask your admin — it’s set at Settings → Automations & AI → Affinity AI.

Meeting briefs

No brief for a meeting? You don’t have to wait for one — open the meeting in the Meetings panel or the Start Your Day module and click Generate Brief. If you’d expected one to be there already, check, in order:
  • Ascend is enabled for your org, and Monitoring is on for Meeting Prep (Ascend → Agents).
  • The meeting is external (internal-only meetings don’t get a brief at launch).
  • Your calendar is synced to Affinity, and the meeting synced in time.
  • You actually have external meetings that day. Overnight briefs are ready in-app by about 7 AM your local time — on the home page (Start Your Day / Ready for You) and in Agent Activity. There’s no email, Slack, or mobile notification.
Generated a brief but never saw it appear? The “Your meeting brief is ready” notification only shows while you have the page open. If you navigated away or refreshed, you won’t get it — the brief still generates. Go back to the meeting and open it with View Brief. The brief shows an old or wrong meeting? If a meeting was rescheduled, or your calendar synced late, an overnight brief may not reflect a same-day change (those are prepared the night before). Check your calendar sync and the meeting time and time zone, then generate a brief against the correct meeting entry. The brief looks thin? The agent draws only on your Affinity data — if an attendee isn’t a record in Affinity yet, or there’s little history, there’s less to include. It won’t invent context.

Suggested field updates (the Data Update agent)

No suggestions after a meeting?
  • The note has to be attached to the meeting. Affinity Notetaker does this automatically. Notes from Granola or other notetakers typically attach to a person/company record instead, which won’t trigger suggestions — see Getting your meeting notes into Affinity for the fix.
  • The meeting is external and the note has content.
  • Some suggestions are filtered out before you see them — the agent skips fields that are already correct, identity fields (name, domain, email), and anything it can’t clearly support from the note.
A suggested value looks wrong? Open View Meeting Note to check it against the source, and leave that field’s checkbox unchecked so it isn’t applied. Use 👎 to flag it. You applied an update but a Status/Stage automation didn’t fire? At launch, applying a Suggested Field Update doesn’t trigger Status/Stage automations.

You don’t see Ascend at all

  • Ascend may not be enabled for your org — ask your admin to enable it at Settings → Automations & AI → Affinity AI.
  • Ascend requires a Scale, Advanced, or Enterprise plan.
  • If your account doesn’t sync a calendar, the Start Your Day module stays empty.
