# Types of lists in Affinity

> Help center reference

<Note>**Concept** — background and overview.</Note>

While the [All People and All Organizations directories](/s/article/All-people-and-all-organizations) provide you/your team with access to your shared network, Affinity lists will enable you to track these people and organizations with more specificity based on your various workflows and use cases. There are 3 types of lists you can [create](/s/article/How-to-create-a-new-list-in-Affinity) in Affinity:

## People lists

Some examples of people lists:

* Recruiting Pipeline - Track applicants in a recruiting pipeline and see what stage they're in.
* VIPs - Keep a list of all the important people in your network.
* Event Tracking - Track all the people and the events they have attended in the past.

## Organization lists

Some examples of organization lists:

* Dealflow - Manage your deals and track their progress over time.
* Portfolio Companies - Keep a list of your portfolio companies in one place.

## Opportunity lists

Some examples of opportunity lists:

* Limited Partners (LPs) - Track both individual and institutional investors in one place.
* Fundraising - Track different fundraising rounds over time.

**Important Notes for Opportunity Lists**

* [Enriched fields and global fields](/s/article/Enriched-Global-and-List-specific-Fields) from **organization lists** are available in opportunity lists as well.
  * However, enriched fields and global fields from **people lists** will **not show up** in opportunity lists.
* Learn more about how to leverage opportunities here: [How to create and leverage opportunities](/s/article/Lists)
* Opportunity lists are currently not supported for some of our [native integrations](/s/article/Integrations) (e.g. Eventbrite, Mailchimp, and Typeform).

## Similarities and differences among the three types of lists

| ---------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Use Case** | Used to track people (e.g. Event Attendance, Recruiting) | Used to track organizations (e.g. Dealflow) | Used to track a combination of people and organizations under one opportunity (e.g. LP and Fundraising) |
| **Notes and Reminders field behavior** | Global | Global | List-specific |
| **Primary Fields (required for import)** | Person Name and Email Address | Organization Name and Website | Opportunity Name |
| **Creating a new field** | Supports both list-specific and global fields | Supports both list-specific and global fields | Only supports list-specific fields since opportunities are unique |

* Each opportunity must have a **unique** opportunity name, no duplicate names allowed.
* Global fields will appear across all lists of the same list type.
* Notes and reminders that are assigned to an opportunity will **not** carry over to the people and/or organizations that are associated with the opportunity.

As you create these lists, learn more about the different types of fields that are available in each list and how you can use them to track specific data points: [Enriched, Global, and List-specific Fields](/s/article/Enriched-Global-and-List-specific-Fields).
