# How to preview profiles from a list

> Open a person, company, or opportunity in a panel next to your New Lists sheet or board, review and update it, and move on to the next record without leaving the view.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **How-to** — task-oriented recipe. Applies to **New Lists**.

In New Lists, clicking a record opens its profile in a **slide-out panel** on the right of your sheet or board. You can review a whole pipeline record by record without leaving the list: scan the profile, update it, then click the next row or card.

If you used the quick-view panel in Classic Lists, this replaces it.

## Open the profile slide-out

**In a sheet view:** click the name cell of a row (the first column, with the record's name). The checkbox, the domain or email link under the name, and the row's actions menu keep their usual behaviour.

**In a board view:** click a card. Dragging a card moves it between columns as before and doesn't open the panel.

The slide-out works for people, companies, and opportunities.

## Move through your list

* **Click another row or card** and the panel switches to that record. The tab you had open stays selected.
* **Close the panel** with the **X** at the top right of the panel, or press **Esc**.
* **Open the full profile** with the **Open in a new tab** icon next to the record's name.

On a board, you can also use the keyboard: focus a card and press **Enter** or **Space** to open its profile, and **Esc** to close it.

## What you can see and do in the slide-out

The panel shows the record's profile, with these tabs:

| Tab | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Overview** | The record's fields, and an **Activities** timeline of recent emails and meetings |
| **Connections** | Who at your firm knows this person or company, and how well |
| **Introductions** | Introduction paths (people and companies only) |
| **Notes** | Notes on the record |
| **Reminders** | Reminders on the record |
| **Files** | Files attached to the record |

From the panel you can:

* **Edit fields.** Changes save as you make them. Changing a status prompts any status triggers on the list, just as it does in the list itself.
* **Edit the name**, or **delete the record**, from the **More actions** menu.
* **Add and edit notes** from the **Notes** tab when you open the panel from a **sheet** view. From a **board** view, notes are read-only in the panel; open the full profile to add one.

On a board, once a card's panel is open you can also click a field on that card to edit it in place.

## When to open the full profile

The slide-out is a quick view. Open the full profile (**Open in a new tab**) when you need to:

* see the record's complete activity history: the slide-out's timeline shows emails and meetings only
* add a note to a specific meeting
* add the record to another list, or log an interaction

## Records that don't open in the slide-out

* **Restricted opportunities you don't have access to** stay masked and don't open. See [Restricted opportunities](/s/article/Restricted-Opportunities).
* An opportunity that is still being created opens once it's saved.
