# Getting your meeting notes into Affinity

> The three ways to get meeting notes into Affinity so the Data Update agent can suggest field updates.

Your meeting notes are what power Affinity's **Data Update** agent — it reads them and suggests CRM field updates for you to review. (Your pre-meeting **Meeting Prep** brief is automatic and doesn't need any notes from you.) There are three ways to get meeting notes into Affinity — pick whichever fits how your team works.

<Note>
  **For Data Update to suggest field updates, the note has to be attached to the *meeting*** — not just to a company or person profile.
</Note>

## 1. Turn on Affinity Notetaker (easiest)

Affinity Notetaker joins your external meetings, captures the notes for you, and attaches them to the meeting automatically — nothing to remember afterward. Available on Scale, Advanced, and Enterprise.

## 2. Connect your own notetaker

Already use a tool like Granola? Connect it to send meeting notes into Affinity automatically. Already use a tool like Granola? Connect it to send meeting notes into Affinity automatically — each note you share is saved in Affinity on the people and companies who attended.

Granola attaches its notes to the **person and company records** — not to the meeting itself. Since the Ascend **Data Update agent** only proposes suggested field updates from notes attached to the **meeting**, Granola notes won't trigger those suggestions on their own. To get suggestions from a meeting, add a note to the meeting yourself.

<Note>
  **Want Data Update suggestions from Granola notes?** Granola attaches its notes to the **person and company records** — not to the **meeting** itself.

  The **Data Update** agent only proposes suggested field updates from notes attached to the **meeting**, so Granola notes won't trigger those suggestions on their own.

  To get suggestions from a meeting, use **Affinity Notetaker** (it attaches the note to the meeting automatically) or **add a note to the meeting yourself** (option 3 below).
</Note>

## 3. Add a note yourself

Prefer to write or paste notes manually? Add a note to the meeting after it happens.

→ [How to add and view notes in Affinity](/s/article/How-to-add-and-view-notes-in-Affinity)

*Tip: add the note to the **meeting** so Data Update can act on it.*

**Also — from a Meeting Prep brief:** open the brief and use **Add as note** to turn it into a note (it appears in Agent Activity as **View Note**). A quick option if you don't use Affinity Notetaker.

Once a note is on the meeting, Data Update proposes field updates within about a minute — you review and approve. Nothing changes in your CRM without your click.

*Affinity AI can make mistakes. You review every suggestion before it's applied.*
