# Document Synthesis — overview

> What Document Synthesis will do with inbound decks and teasers once it's available. This agent is coming soon — it isn't available yet.

Document Synthesis is one of Affinity's **Ascend** agents. When a pitch deck, teaser, or CIM lands in your inbox today, you'd normally open it, skim for the key points, find the record, and type up a summary. Once Document Synthesis is available, it will do that reading and summarizing for you — then surface the summary on the related record in your **Agent Activity** feed for review.

Like every Ascend agent, it will follow the same trust model: **the agent suggests, you review, you decide.** Nothing will be written to your CRM until you save it, and the agent will only see and act on what your own account can already access.

## What it will do

**Detect → summarize → surface on the related record in Agent Activity.**

### Detect

It will watch for inbound **pitch decks, teasers, and CIMs** arriving as attachments on your own email, and recognize each document by its **content** rather than its filename.

### Summarize

It will read the document and pull out the key points — company, stage, the ask, notable highlights — automatically once a qualifying document is detected. You won't have to forward, upload, or trigger anything.

### Surface for review

It will attach the summary to the **related record** and surface it as an item in your **Agent Activity** feed, with a **link back to the source document**. With “ask me first,” nothing is saved on its own — you review the summary and decide what to keep.

## What's coming later

Beyond summarizing documents, Document Synthesis is planned to feed the **Data Update** agent — so a summarized document can help suggest field updates on the related record. That will come after the initial release.

## Where it will live

You'll find Document Synthesis alongside the other agents under **Ascend** in the left navigation and on the home page. For now it appears as a **“Coming soon”** card — there's no toggle and nothing to turn on yet.

## Common questions

* **Is it available now?** No. It appears as a **“Coming soon”** card with no toggle.
* **What will it do?** Monitor your inbound email for **pitch decks, teasers, and CIMs**, summarize each, and attach the summary to the related record in your **Agent Activity** feed for review.
* **Will it change anything on its own?** No — it will only **summarize** and surface for review; nothing is written until you decide. “Ask me first” is the default.
* **Who will see the summary?** Only you — the person who received the document — until you choose to save it.
